About Pendle Way In A Day
Participants can tackle the Pendle Way In A Day as either a full 45-mile circular or a shorter 30-mile alternative on 6 February 2027. Both routes are trail-based challenges through the moorlands and villages of the South Pennines near Barley in Lancashire, with the longer option incorporating around 6,100 feet of ascent and the shorter route around 4,500 feet. The routes are fully waymarked and take in Pendle Hill alongside footpaths and bridgeways through the local countryside.
This is a winter ultra event suited to experienced fell runners and walkers rather than beginners. The 45-mile route starts at 7am for walkers and 8.30am for runners, with the 30-mile option departing at 10am. All participants must reach the finish by midnight. Winter kit requirements include waterproof cover, headtorch with spare batteries, map, compass, whistle and mobile phone. Fell or trail footwear is essential. Entrants must be at least 18 years old.
