About Phoenix Manchester Afterglow
Phoenix Manchester organises the Afterglow, a seven-hour timed trail event taking place on 22 August 2026 at Chorlton Water Park. Runners complete laps of a 5.3km out-and-back course along the River Mersey, with the flexibility to tackle anywhere from a single lap to as many circuits as possible within the time limit. This means participants can aim for distances anywhere between 5km and ultra-marathon length, depending on how they feel on the day.
The event welcomes all abilities—runners, walkers, joggers and hikers alike. Completing even one lap counts as a finish, and everyone who takes part receives a finishers' medal.
