About Pilgrim Challenge
Held on the North Downs Way, the Pilgrim Challenge follows a historic trail once travelled by pilgrims heading to Canterbury. This two-day trail running event takes place across Surrey in February, covering 66 miles total, though single-day participation over 33 miles is also available.
The undulating course winds through woodlands, rolling fields and historic villages, with winter conditions common at this time of year. Participants should expect mud, ice and potential snow underfoot. The route is marked with pink ribbons and arrows, with GPX files provided for navigation. Essential kit includes a mobile phone, waterproof jacket, head torch and minimum 500ml water capacity.
Support is built into the event structure. Luggage transfers between locations are handled by organisers, while full-event participants receive accommodation at a local school hall in Redhill with evening meals and breakfast provided. Aid stations are positioned along the route, and a qualified medical crew is on-site. Shuttle transport from Farnham and Redhill train stations is available to assist with logistics.
