About Porthkerry 5MT
On 20 September 2026, Porthkerry 5MT takes runners around a 5 mile mixed terrain course within Porthkerry Country Park in the Vale of Glamorgan. The route is mostly contained inside the park, with surfaces ranging from open grassland and woodland paths to tarmac. The course features two climbs alongside several faster flat sections and quick descents, with views across the Bristol Channel and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The first mile runs through The Meadow before later sections pass the shoreline, Viaduct Wood and the Cwm Barri area, finishing with a final run back along The Meadow.
This event marks the race's 20th anniversary. The route stays largely consistent with previous years and is known for its speed, with roughly 95% inside the park. Runners have a completion time limit of 1 hour 15 minutes. Prizes go to the first three finishers in both the men's and women's categories, along with age group winners. The 2026 event will also incorporate the South Wales Regional Trail Championship for eligible competitors.
