About Quayside 5K & 10K August
A closed road course along Newcastle's waterfront sets the stage for this summer running event, where both distances follow the same flat terrain alongside the River Tyne. The 5K takes one lap of the route, whilst the 10K doubles back for two circuits, giving runners the chance to chase personal bests on an accurately measured path that passes beneath the Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge and Gateshead Millennium Bridge, among other landmarks of the city skyline.
Organised by RunThrough in partnership with Gateshead Harriers, the event welcomes first-time runners and experienced club athletes alike. The 5K is part of the Top Flight Race Series. Taking place on 6 August 2026, the event offers chip timing and free race photography, with post-race refreshments and marshal support on the night.
