About Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme
A 28 km skyrace across the Helvellyn Massif in the Lake District, Pinnacle Ridge Extreme demands serious scrambling ability alongside fell running fitness. Held in Patterdale on 17 July 2027, the event combines technical single-track running with five graded scrambles, knife-edge ridgelines and scree-lined descents over rocky ground. The route packs 2700 m of ascent into the distance, threading long runnable sections through the Glenridding Mines area alongside the more exposed climbing terrain.
Entry is strictly vetted. Competitors must provide evidence of appropriate climbing or scrambling ability—Graded Scrambling grade 2 or above, lead climbing skills, winter climbing skills, alpine climbing skills, or documented solo climbs—before being accepted onto the start line.
