About Race for Life Chelmsford 10k
A 5km obstacle course combining running, climbing, crawling and sliding takes place at Hylands Park in Chelmsford on 18 July 2027. Organised by Cancer Research UK as part of the Race for Life series, Pretty Muddy challenges participants over mainly grassed terrain with gentle inclines and undulating sections. The course winds through the park's grounds with start and finish on open grass.
Participants move through in staggered waves departing every 15 minutes. While the obstacles encourage physical challenge, marshals are on hand and participants can skip any obstacle if preferred. The event welcomes those aged 13 and over; younger children can take part in separate Pretty Muddy Kids events. Free car parking is available via Greenbury Way, with Blue Badge spaces at the Stables Car Park near Hylands House. Bus service 351 stops outside the park and Chelmsford railway station lies about 3.5 miles away. Refreshments and toilets are available on site, though the course is not wheelchair accessible due to its nature.
