About Radyr Trail Marathon
Held in May as part of the Radyr and Morganstown Festival, this trail event offers runners two distances across off-road terrain in the Cardiff area. The 13-mile half marathon and 26-mile marathon both navigate woodland, forest and mountain paths, with views across varied landscape including the notable Garth mountain. The half marathon route is fully marked with junction signs and supported by a professional medical team, whilst the marathon incorporates the opening miles of the half before branching into three additional circular sections requiring self-navigation, with maps and GPX files provided.
Both races include checkpoints offering water and light refreshments along the route, and runners are asked to carry a kit list checked at registration. The event starts from Cardiff Harlequins RFC on Forest Farm Road in Whitchurch, with changing facilities, showers and parking available at the venue, located roughly five minutes' walk from Radyr train station. Proceeds support local charities.
