About Rayneing Medals Anniversary Challenge
The Flitch Way, a traffic-free trail running along a former railway line between Braintree and Bishops Stortford, provides the setting for this six-hour challenge on 14 February 2027. Participants start from Rayne Station and navigate a series of 5.3km loops, with the option to choose their direction after each circuit. The hard-packed trail surface winds through the Essex countryside across terrain that once carried the single-track railway before it closed in 1969.
The event marks the ninth anniversary of its organiser's first race and is UKA affiliated, qualifying for the 100 Club. Runners pass an aid station at Rayne Station every 5km, where water, squash, flapjacks, fruit and nuts are available. As a cupless event, participants should bring their own reusable cup or soft flask. A bag drop at the aid station allows access to personal nutrition and kit throughout the race. Finishers receive a goody bag and can choose a medal from a selection of previous bespoke designs.
