About Ripon Round Ultra and Relay
The Ripon Round Ultra takes runners on a 35-mile trail circuit through the North Yorkshire landscape, following the northern section of the Ripon Rowel. Beginning and ending at Studley Roger Village Hall, the route crosses the undulating terrain of Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, passing through woodland and moorland before descending through Studley Royal deer park on the final stretch back to the village.
Organised by Ripon Runners, the event starts at 9am with a 10-hour time limit and operates checkpoint cutoff times. Four well-stocked checkpoints staffed by volunteers provide water, snacks and cake throughout the route, with additional water stations depending on weather conditions. Toilet facilities are available at the race headquarters and at checkpoint three around the 19-mile mark.
The event welcomes both solo runners (minimum age 20) and relay teams (minimum age 17 per participant). Solo finishers receive a t-shirt, with prizes for the top three male and female runners plus age category winners. Relay teams also receive t-shirts, with a prize for the fastest team.
