About Rombald's Romp Fell Race
A 13 km fell race across Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire, Rombald's Romp takes runners over rough rocky tracks, heathery paths and through forest sections dotted with wooden bridges and tree roots. The single-lap course includes approximately one mile of road and totals 370 metres of ascent. Taking place on 26 September 2026, the race is organised by North Leeds Fell Runners and licensed by the Fell Runners Association.
As an FRA-licensed event, mandatory kit requirements apply: waterproof jacket with taped seams and integrated hood, waterproof trousers, hat, gloves, compass and whistle must be carried. The start and finish are on Keighley Road, roughly half a mile from race headquarters on Keighley Gate Road. Parking is available at Darwin Gardens or Wells Road, with public toilets in the town centre about 1 km away. Facilities on site are basic with no changing rooms, showers or baggage storage. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and age category winners from V40 to V60.
