About Route Zero
Route Zero is a 15 km navigation challenge that turns a traditional road race on its head. Runners gather in Glasgow before being transported to a secret location, then race back to the finish without a marked course or GPS to guide them. Each participant must chart their own route, making every race a unique test of navigation, strategy and endurance.
The event begins with participants handing over their phones and GPS watches before being blindfolded for the journey to the undisclosed starting point. Once racing begins, there are no directions or course markings—runners are free to choose whichever path they believe will get them back fastest. Live tracking allows spectators to follow each competitor's progress throughout the event, despite the runners themselves being without technology.
This format rewards decision-making under pressure as much as running ability. With no predefined route and every navigational choice shaping the final outcome, Route Zero offers a distinctly different challenge to conventional road racing.
