About Run the Blades
Run The Blades takes place across a July weekend at Whitelee Wind Farm near Eaglesham, offering trail running distances of 10 km, 13.1 miles and 50 km. Based at Eaglesham Primary School with an event village at Turbine 53, the weekend also includes a junior mile for under-16s.
The routes primarily follow windfarm access roads and are not technically demanding, though conditions underfoot can be muddy or rough. The 10 km features one checkpoint at 5 km, the half marathon has two checkpoints, and the 50 km includes four, each staffed with water and portaloo facilities. Drop bags are permitted at ultra checkpoints only. Participants must carry a mobile phone, and poles and dogs are not allowed on course.
Race numbers are collected on the day from the event village rather than sent beforehand. The site offers on-site parking and accessible facilities including an accessible visitor centre entrance, disabled toilets and accessible parking near the village by prior arrangement.
