About Run to the Castle Ultra
Run to the Castle Ultra takes place on Saturday 14 August 2027, launching from Aberdovey and following the coastal path south through Tywyn, Fairbourne and Barmouth to finish at Harlech. Runners can choose between 26 miles and 42 miles over predominantly trail terrain, with a 12 hour time limit.
The point-to-point route mixes beach, tracks and pavements as it traces the coast. Compulsory kit includes a rucksack, water bladder or bottle (minimum 1 litre capacity), emergency food, charged mobile phone, waterproof jacket, whistle, map and compass, and first aid kit. Support is provided at four checkpoints along the way. Bag drop is available on race morning, with one bag per runner transported to the finish. Both the start near Aberdovey train station and finish near Harlech station are roughly 200 yards from their respective stations, with connecting trains running approximately every 90 to 120 minutes.
