About Runaway Train Trail Race Shepton Mallet
On Sunday 2 May 2027, Runaway Train takes runners and walkers into the landscape around Shepton Mallet via the Windsor Hill railway path. Three trail routes of 3, 6 and 8 miles wind through woods and valleys, passing through tunnels and over viaducts with views across to distant hills. All courses finish in Shepton Mallet market place.
The event welcomes walkers and families alongside runners, with a shorter option that runs to Ham Woods and back. After completing the outdoor trail, participants and spectators gather in the market place for a lunchtime boxty feast, combining the countryside route with a shared meal in the town centre.
