About Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra
Taking place on 10 July 2027, Saint Cuthbert's Way Ultra is a 39 km trail race based in Wooler, Northumberland. The event follows the official Saint Cuthbert's Way route, which runs from Melrose in the Scottish Borders to Holy Island in Northumberland, crossing the national border and passing through the Scottish Borders region and Northumberland National Park. The course is fully waymarked and follows the established trail without deviation.
Runners will be supported by medical cover, marshals and staffed checkpoints offering water, soft drinks and snacks, with hot drinks and a wider food selection available at key locations. Drop bags are permitted at designated points, and a free shuttle service returns finishers from Holy Island back to Wooler. Participants must carry mandatory kit including a head torch with spare batteries, whistle, compass, specified maps, waterproofs and emergency supplies. Those entering should have completed at least a half marathon within the last three years.
