About Salt Cellar Fell Race
Upper Derwent Reservoir in the Peak District provides the backdrop for this fell race organised by Steel City Striders on 7 August 2026. Runners start and finish beneath the dam wall at Fairholmes Visitor Centre, near Ladybower Reservoir, tackling a 6.8-mile route classed as Category BM under Fell Runners Association rules.
The course climbs onto Derwent Edge before descending from the Salt Cellar Boulder, covering approximately 486 metres of elevation gain across open fell, rocky paths and technical terrain. Marshals and flagged sections guide runners around the route. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over, with proceeds supporting Edale Mountain Rescue and the National Trust.
