About Saltire 24 Ultra Trail Race
Saltire 24 is a midsummer ultra trail race held across Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, starting from Strachan War Memorial on 19 June. Runners tackle a multi-terrain loop beside Kerloch Hill and through Fetteresso Forest, completing as many laps as possible within their chosen time window. The race runs through day and night, meaning participants may find themselves running in the hours before sunrise.
Three distance options are available: 6 hours, 12 hours or 24 hours. Runners can enter as soloists or as part of a team, with relay formats available for groups of two to eight. On-site camping is free, with showers and heated changing rooms available. A headtorch is compulsory for night running, and competitors need to be prepared for Scottish weather and variable terrain.
