On 21 March 2027, Saturn Running's Gilesgate event takes place in Durham as a trail-based time challenge along the River Wear. Runners can tackle 5 km, 10 km, 13.1 miles, 26.2 miles or 50 km within a seven-hour window, with the course made up of approximately 4.37 mile loops that may be adjusted depending on conditions. Shorter turn points at 3 km and 5 km are available for younger participants to meet age requirements.

The fully signed course requires no prior navigation experience and is licensed by the Trail Running Association, operating under UK Athletics rules. Headquarters are based at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, which provides toilet and changing facilities, alongside a bag drop area near the start and finish. An aid table offering sweet and savoury snacks, including vegan options, is positioned at the end of each lap. Finishers receive a medal and goody bag, with distance pins available for those completing a half marathon or further.
