About Scrabo
Taking place on 20 August 2026, the Scrabo Hill Race is a NIMRA Championship event held at Scrabo Country Park in Newtownards, County Down. Organised by Ballydrain Harriers & Athletic Club, this 6 km trail race covers a figure-of-eight course completed over two laps with 280 metres of ascent. The route winds through forest trails and singletrack, featuring short steep climbs, narrow paths, steps, and sections with tree roots and rocks.
The event is limited to 120 entries and welcomes runners aged 15 and over. Marshalls will be positioned at major junctions and crossing points throughout the course, which will be waymarked with sawdust and tape. A dibber point will be used at the start and finish. Running poles are not permitted, and headphones or ear pieces are not allowed for safety reasons. A rain jacket is recommended in poor weather.
