About Sea To Summit Scafell Pike
Runners and fell walkers tackling this 33-mile ultramarathon trade the Cumbrian coast for the Lake District's highest peaks. Starting from Seascale beachfront, the route climbs roughly 5,600 feet on trail to Scafell Pike's summit before returning to Seascale Sports Hall on 4 September 2027. The course is fully waymarked with orange arrows, and staffed pit stops provide water, hot drinks and snacks throughout the day.
The event operates under strict cut-offs set at 3 mph completion pace, with key checkpoints at 6.5 miles, 14 miles, 20 miles and 26 miles. Professional medical cover including paramedics and doctors is on site. Participants must be aged 18 or over and adhere to a mandatory kit list. Free shuttle buses run from an event car park three miles away to the start line. The Sea to Summit Series includes two other events; completing all three earns a Trilogy gold medal.
