About Shires and Spires
Shires and Spires returns on 9 May 2027, with five distances available to runners starting and finishing at Naseby Village Hall in West Northamptonshire. Participants can choose from a 10 km route, 13.4 miles, 19.1 miles, 26.2 miles, or the full 35-mile ultra marathon. All courses follow circular routes through the Northamptonshire countryside, combining road and trail terrain.
This long-established event has been running annually since 2009, and the route direction alternates year to year, offering returning runners a different perspective on the landscape. The 35-mile ultra holds UTMB index status. Checkpoints with water and snacks are positioned along the routes, and GPS tracking with voice navigation is provided for the longer distances.
