About Shropshire Historic 50K
A 50km trail run through Shropshire's heritage landscape, the Historic Shropshire 50K takes runners past some of the region's most significant historical landmarks. Starting at Telford Town Park on 15 May 2027, the marked route winds through sites spanning multiple periods, including Ironbridge, Wroxeter Roman City, Buildwas Abbey, Much Wenlock Abbey, Attingham Park, and Shrewsbury Abbey and Castle. The course also encompasses a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the location associated with the modern Olympic movement's origins.
Runners finish at Shrewsbury Quarry after completing the trail course. The route has been precisely measured using a measuring wheel, and participants benefit from marshal support throughout. Free bag transfer from start to finish is provided, with technical running t-shirts available to purchase. The event welcomes entrants aged 16 and over, though dogs and prams are not permitted. Those completing all three races in the Shropshire Challenge—the Historic Shropshire 50K, Church Stretton 50K and Shrewsbury 50K—receive a special commemorative medal.
