About Silverbacktrails - Oswiu's Revenge
Oswiu's Revenge is a 13-mile trail half marathon in the Black Hambleton and Silton Woods area south of Osmotherley, suited to runners comfortable with technical terrain and self-sufficiency. The route combines forest tracks and ancient trods with varied ascents and descents across the North Yorkshire Moors landscape, demanding navigation skills and preparation beyond a typical fell race.
Taking place on 16 May 2027, the event is limited to 50 participants and starts at Square Corner just outside Osmotherley. Runners have four hours to complete the course and should expect minimal wayfinding support beyond flags, marshals and a master map provided at registration; a GPX file is supplied in advance. The event recommends carrying full navigational equipment including a compass and appropriate OS maps, plus mandatory safety kit. One checkpoint and the finish offer water and provisions. Finishers receive a medal and certificate.
