About Slow and Dirty
The Slow and Dirty takes runners along a historic route through Dorset and Somerset, following the path of the former Somerset and Dorset railway line. This 11-mile (19 km) trail run is almost entirely flat, running across the hard surface of the leisure path that now occupies the old railway corridor. The course starts at Sturminster Newton and winds through the River Stour valley, passing through local villages and landmarks including Shillingstone station and Blandford.
The event welcomes runners of all experience levels and permits canicross and buggy running. Two aid stations are positioned along the route—one at Stourpaine sports club and another in Blandford—with distance markers and signage at every kilometre. The finish is at Clapcotts Farm in Spetisbury. Parking is provided at the start, both aid stations, and the finish, with pre-booked transport available between the start and end points.
