About Solar Eclipse Trail Run
On 12 August 2026, Bird Outdoors is hosting a 7 km trail run at Werneth Low Country Park in Hyde, Tameside, designed for women and non-binary runners. The route is socially paced at an average speed slower than 7 min/km, with a no-runner-left-behind ethos, making it an accessible option for those looking to run at a relaxed tempo.
The event coincides with a solar eclipse, and weather permitting, participants will pause during the run to observe it. The eclipse will reach maximum at 7:10pm, with first contact at 6:13pm and final contact around 8:03–8:04pm. Runners will need solar eclipse glasses to view safely; the organiser will attempt to provide these. The run operates on a donation basis, with proceeds supporting a Community Fund.
