About Spring in Lakeland
Spring in Lakeland offers two trail walking options across the Lake District: a 24 mile route and a 50 mile challenge. Taking place on 10 and 11 April 2027, this Long Distance Walkers Association event is based at John Ruskin School in Coniston, featuring new loops and a fresh start location for 2027. Route descriptions and GPX files are available in advance for participants to study.
The 24 mile option provides a day walk with refreshments at Ambleside, Elterwater and Coniston Institute. Those tackling the full 50 mile route benefit from overnight facilities at the school including camping and showers, plus additional checkpoints with food and drink at Seathwaite, Broughton, and Nibthwaite, finishing with a hot meal at Coniston Institute. Dietary requirements including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options are catered for at all stops. Dogs are not permitted due to the lambing season. Supporters are welcome at most checkpoints, and certificates are issued by email following the event.
