About St Sunday Sky Race
Taking place on 17 July 2027, the St Sunday Sky Race is a 29 km trail event in Patterdale that tackles St Sunday Crag and the surrounding eastern fells of the Lake District. With approximately 2050 m of ascent, the course combines technical mountain terrain with steep ascents and rocky descents that demand attention and route-finding skills. Sections follow the old Lakes Sky Ultra route, supplemented by additional trails through this UNESCO World Heritage Site landscape.
Positioned as an entry-level skyrunning event, the race offers a stepping stone to longer sky races while maintaining genuine technical challenge. The fully marked route includes a feed station and eight manned checkpoints. Runners receive electronic timing and tracking, and finishes are recognised with a Wild Flower Seed Medal. The race holds ITRA/UTMB ranking points and is supported by a professional Safety Officer and safety team.
