About Stanza Stones Ultra Summer
A 50 mile trail ultra across the South Pennines connecting Marsden and Ilkley, the Stanza Stones Summer Edition takes place on 5 June 2027. The route climbs over 6,800 feet across high moorland and valley sections, visiting six Stanza Stones—carved poems about water in its various forms—and passing through Haworth. The course follows parts of the Pennine Way and takes in views of Stoodley Pike, Haworth Moor and Ilkley Moor.
Starting at Marsden Cricket Club and finishing at Curly Hill Scout Camp in Ilkley, runners are supported by six checkpoints along the route supplying food and water, with three indoor checkpoints at Mytholmroyd, Haworth and Bingley offering hot food. OpenTracking provides live coverage throughout. The summer edition offers free camping, and bed hire is available for the nights before and during the race. Finishers receive a memento, with a quality cotton T-shirt available, plus a meal, changing rooms and showers at the finish. The minimum age for entry is 20 years.
