Starburster takes place on the evening of 30 January 2027 at Victory Oak in Ferndown, Dorset, as a twilight trail running event. Participants can choose between 5 miles (one lap) or 10 miles (two laps) on a 2.5 mile out-and-back course over hardstanding and well-maintained track. Head or chest torches are essential for this sunset event, with additional lights encouraged to create a starlit atmosphere.

The 5 mile race is open to runners aged 16 and over, while the 10 mile event requires participants to be at least 17. Registration opens at 4.15pm with race numbers issued on the day. An aid station at the start and finish offers food and drink; runners should bring their own cups. Trail shoes are recommended but not required. A portion of entry fees supports Forestry England's work maintaining the nation's forests and trails, and facilities include toilets and bag storage at the cricket club.
