About Storm The Fort
Storm the Fort takes runners to Brean Down, a distinctive ridge jutting into the Bristol Channel between Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-Super-Mare, for a night trail running event on 16 January 2027. The course uses this striking Somerset location to create a traffic-free route that includes a run through the old fort buildings themselves. Participants can choose between 5 km and 10 km distances, with the longer option comprising two laps of the trail.
The route involves climbing onto the down via good trails and tracks, with a steep ascent onto the ridge, a steady section out to the fort, and a short technical climb to reach the main ridge before descending to the finish. Storm the Fort is the second event in the Dark Skies Series, a three-event night running programme across Somerset.
