Fell runners after a genuine hillside challenge will find it in the Stuart Learmouth Memorial Undulator, a 13.7 km trail race held on 27 September 2026 in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. The course packs 457 metres of ascent into its route, taking in steep climbs and descents across reclaimed quarry land, pastures and the High Peak Trail, with views across the Derbyshire Dales landscape.
The route starts in Stoney Wood and weaves between various terrain types: rocky ground, trails, lanes and short road sections. Runners encounter the historic winding house at Middleton Top, pass near wind turbines at Ryder Point Quarry, and climb to the trig point on Harborough Rocks before a mainly downhill return via the High Peak Trail and Carsington Pastures. The race holds a Fell Runners Association permit and is open to runners aged 18 and over. Pre-entry is required.
