About Summer Canal Canter
Runner looking for a flat, fast course will find it on the canal towpath in Tiverton on 31 July 2027, when the Summer Canal Canter offers three distances across hard-packed gravel paths alongside the Grand Western Canal. The 5 km and 10 km routes are shorter out-and-back affairs, while the half marathon extends to Sampford Peverell and back, covering 13.1 miles with minimal elevation gain to slow the pace.
All three races finish at the Canal Basin. Half marathon runners must be at least 18 years old, 10 km entrants at least 16, and the 5 km is open to all ages with under-12s requiring adult supervision. Proceeds from the event support The Friends of The Grand Western Canal.
