About Sunflower Stride
Taking place on the evening of 15 August 2026, the Sunflower Stride is a 10 km trail run based at Wingfield near Dorchester in Dorset. The course starts from a grass car park and winds through rows of sunflower plants before joining bridgeways that lead towards Maiden Castle, the Iron Age hill fort offering views across to Weymouth and Hardy's Monument.
The terrain is mixed, featuring hills, pasture, stubble fields and twisty sections through the flowers, with two road crossings along the route. An aid station sits roughly halfway through. This is a cupless event, so runners need to bring their own hydration vessels. The 10 km race is open to participants aged 16 and above. Proceeds support the Dorset County Hospital Emergency and Critical Care Appeal.
