About Surrey Ultra Mountain Marathon
Taking place on 8 and 9 May 2027, the Surrey Ultra Mountain Marathon is a two-day navigation challenge for pairs based at Newlands Corner in the Surrey Hills. Teams are entirely self-supported, carrying their own camping gear, cooking equipment, fuel and food throughout the weekend.
The format involves timed scoring sessions: seven hours on the first day and six hours on the second, during which pairs navigate to virtual controls across the surrounding terrain. All teams start simultaneously each day, with a maximum of 20 pairs competing. Accommodation is provided at a basic campsite on a working farm with access to water, showers and toilets, though conditions may be affected by farm activity overnight.
