About Thames Trail Ultra
A 47-mile trail ultra running from Iffley in Oxford to Henley-on-Thames on 24 October 2026, the Thames Trail Ultra follows the Thames Path and sections of the Ridgeway. The course is predominantly cross-country trails and riverside paths with a smaller road section, gaining 289 metres of elevation overall. Five aid stations are positioned along the route offering water, snacks and partnership nutrition options.
Runners must be aged 18 and over and carry mandatory kit including a mobile phone, power bank, water container, survival blanket, waterproof jacket, headtorch, hat and gloves. The event uses real-time GPS tracking with updates every 10 seconds. A shuttle service runs from Oxford train station to the start, and baggage transfer is available. The finish at the YMCA Y Centre in Henley-on-Thames provides hot food, showers and changing facilities. The Thames Trail Ultra is indexed in the UTMB Index System's 50K category.
