About The Bog Run
The Bog Run returns to Castlewellan, Co. Down on 11 October 2026 for its tenth and final edition. This muddy 5 km trail event navigates forest paths with obstacles including bush crawls, fallen trees and deep mud pits. The senior course adds a waist-deep section through a lake, while the junior route removes this water crossing and some of the muddier terrain.
Two categories cater to different ages: juniors aged 8 to 14 run with an accompanying adult (maximum two children per adult), and seniors aged 12 and over (those aged 12-17 must also be accompanied). The event is organised to raise funds for Cancer Fund for Children, which supports young people affected by cancer across Ireland and England. Shower facilities, bag drop, changing tents and post-race snacks are provided on site.
