About The Cairngorms Trail Marathon
The Cairngorms Trail Marathon ventures through the Scottish Highlands on 20 September 2026, starting and finishing at the market stance in Kingussie. This 26.3-mile looped route traverses roughly 80% trail and 20% road, threading through forest paths, river crossings and cycle routes around Killiehuntly and Glenfeshie. The undulating terrain demands trail shoes and previous race experience of at least a half marathon distance.
The course winds through Cairngorms National Park before returning runners to Kingussie for a finish with food and a finisher item. There are no cut-off times, allowing participants to complete the route at their own pace. Car parking is available at several locations including The Crossing, Kingussie Railway Station and Kingussie Church.
