About The Cerne Giant
Runners can choose between 20 or 30 mile trail routes when they take on The Cerne Giant on 21 March 2027. Both courses start from Cerne Abbas Village Hall and navigate downland and river valleys across Dorset, passing landmarks including Alton Pancras, Lyscombe Chapel, the Dorsetshire Gap and Buckland Newton. The longer course also takes in Bingham's Melcombe and Sydling St Nicholas. A rolling start system is used, with a time limit of 11 hours to complete the challenge.
The 30 mile route has three checkpoints while the 20 mile has two, offering drinks and light snacks. A light vegetarian meal awaits finishers at the village hall. Route descriptions and GPX files are released about ten days before the event. Participants should bring their own mug and those with dietary requirements beyond vegetarian should carry suitable provisions. All finishers receive a certificate. The event is limited to 180 entrants with a minimum age of 16.
