About The Cordwell Colossus
The Cordwell Colossus welcomes both runners and fast walkers to tackle a 20-mile trail run through Derbyshire's Cordwell and Linacre Valleys, on the edge of the Peak District. Starting from Holmesfield Village Hall on 8 August 2026, the route winds through woodland tracks, farmland and rural trails, climbing around 840 metres with sweeping views from the higher sections. Some sections of the course are less obviously marked, so a GPX file and route notes are provided to help navigators.
Two well-stocked checkpoints support runners on course, with refreshments at the finish. All participants must be 18 or over and complete the route within the 6-hour time limit. Finishers receive a medal, and prizes are awarded to the first male and female competitors.
