Runners seeking a serious challenge across Dartmoor's raw terrain will find it here. The Dartmoor Beast takes participants across open moorland, woodland, rivers and bog on 27 September 2026, with steep ascents and rocky ground testing endurance throughout. Two route options allow runners to choose between 14 miles or 20 miles of trail running in West Devon.
The event is fully supported with water stations and refreshment facilities on course, alongside professional medical cover. Runners should bring their own water container. Chip timing provides accurate results, with finishing times texted to competitors. All finishers receive a medal and a traditional Devon cream tea, while fastest male and female runners on each route win trophies. Proceeds benefit Hospiscare, the local hospice serving Exeter and central and east Devon.
