About The Descent 2
From the high moorland above Calderdale down to Sowerby Bridge, The Descent 2 takes a different approach to the 10K road race. Starting at Baitings Reservoir at around 975 feet above sea level, runners head downhill across quiet upland roads with open countryside views, descending more than 700 feet to finish at 252 feet. Gravity works in the runner's favour throughout.
The point-to-point format and significant net descent create an unusual challenge that appeals to those after a quick 10K as well as runners seeking something beyond the standard road race experience. Participants register at Sowerby Bridge and are transported to the start at Baitings Reservoir before the fast-flowing route begins on 18 June 2027.
