About The Drop Durham
The Drop Durham takes runners off the beaten path in the most literal sense. Participants choose between 6, 10 or 15 mile challenges before being blindfolded, transported to an undisclosed location, and released to navigate back to Durham city centre without maps, GPS, compasses or outside help. The stated distances are measured as the crow flies from the drop point, so the actual ground covered depends entirely on each runner's route choices and can be considerably longer.
Since there is no fixed course, the terrain encountered varies depending on the path taken back. Navigation, decision-making and endurance become central to this self-navigation running challenge, organised by Organic Adventure Ltd with event headquarters at The Cartologist in Durham city centre.
