About The Drop Halifax
For runners who thrive on problem-solving and self-reliance, The Drop Halifax offers something genuinely unconventional. Participants are bussed from Halifax to a secret drop-off point and must navigate their way back to the finish at Dukes Bar. The challenge comes in three distance options—6, 10 or 15 miles as the crow flies—but the actual route covered will be considerably longer, depending entirely on competitors' choices and navigation instincts.
This is navigation and decision-making over pure speed. GPS devices, watches, phones, compasses and unauthorised maps are sealed before the start, leaving runners to rely on their own judgment and resilience to find the way home. Live safety tracking runs throughout, and strict navigation rules apply, but there are no marked courses or predetermined paths. Taking place on 6 June 2027 across Calderdale's trail terrain, The Drop delivers an endurance test that's fundamentally different from a traditional road or fell race.
