About The Drop - Kendal
Taking place on 5 December 2026, The Drop is a navigation challenge unlike most running events. Participants are transported blindfolded to an undisclosed location and must find their own way back to the event centre at Podda & Wren Coffee Roasters in Kendal. There are no marked routes, no electronic aids, and no navigational reassurance; each person must make their own decisions about the best way home.
Three distance options are available: 6, 10, or 15 miles (measured as the crow flies, so actual routes will be considerably longer). Before departure, runners hand over all watches, GPS devices and maps, and receive a sealed emergency bag that must be carried throughout. Travel is on foot only, and the seal must remain unbroken. The terrain is trail-based across the Westmorland and Furness area.
