The Drop in Worcester is a navigational challenge quite unlike a conventional race. Participants are transported blindfolded to a secret drop-off location and must navigate their way back to the event centre at Subway, Worcester using only their own sense of direction—no maps, GPS devices or watches permitted. Three distances are available: 6 miles, 10 miles and 15 miles, measured as the crow flies, though actual routes taken will likely be longer.

Before setting off, runners surrender electronic devices and receive a race number along with a sealed emergency bag that must remain unopened throughout. Blackout safety goggles can be used as an alternative to a blindfold if preferred. The event is based in Worcester town centre, with parking available locally and the railway station a ten-minute walk away.
