About The Fort 20
Coastal Trail Runners has partnered with English Heritage to establish The Fort 20 as a fixture on the local running calendar. This 20 mile trail race takes place on 11 October 2026, beginning and ending within the walls of Landguard Fort, the 18th century landmark that overlooks Felixstowe.
The looped course traverses coastal and inland terrain across the Suffolk peninsula, crossing two nature reserves and two river estuaries while passing through the port area. The route is fully marked and a GPX file is provided for navigation. Water and snack stations are stationed at three points along the way, and runners have a six hour cut-off time to complete the distance. A drop bag facility is available for personal belongings.
The event is TRA-licensed and run under UK Athletics rules. Participants must be 18 or older. All finishers receive a race medal and long-sleeve T-shirt.
