About The Hardmoors 160
The Hardmoors 160 is a single-stage ultramarathon covering 160 miles of trail across North Yorkshire from Scalby near Scarborough to Filey. The route combines the 48-mile Tabular Hills with the full length of the Cleveland Way National Trail, accumulating approximately 6700 metres of ascent. Runners have 50 hours to complete the course.
The event accommodates both solo competitors and relay teams of 2 to 6 runners, with an entry limit of 60 participants. Numbered checkpoints along the route provide water, food and hot drinks, though some restrict support crew access. All runners must be supported by motorised back-up throughout, though this support can be shared between competitors. One support runner on foot is permitted from Gribdale Gate onwards and during specified hours of darkness. Live trackers broadcast competitor locations for safety and crew coordination.
Entry requires prior completion of at least 60 trail miles in a single-stage event. A compulsory kit list is enforced with spot checks on course; missing mandatory items results in time penalties or disqualification. Competitors must follow the declared route, respect marshals' directions, close gates behind them and be aware that tidal sections are marshalled, with any waiting time subtracted from finish times.
