About The Hardmoors 55
The Hardmoors 55 is a 55-mile trail ultramarathon organised by Hardmoors, starting from Gisborough Priory in Guisborough on 20 March 2027. The route follows much of the Hardmoors 110 and Cleveland Way, traversing the North York Moors and Cleveland Hills en route to Helmsley. Runners will encounter notable landmarks including Roseberry Topping and the Three Sisters, with approximately 7,545 feet of ascent over the course.
The event features six checkpoints positioned along the route where food and water are provided. A 16-hour time limit applies to completion, and entry is limited to 380 places. Competitors must carry a comprehensive mandatory kit list including waterproof clothing with taped seams, headtorch, map, whistle, survival bag, foil blanket and fully charged mobile phone. Spot checks occur during the race and penalties apply for missing kit. Relay teams of two to four runners are permitted, with slightly adjusted kit requirements. Drop bags are allowed at two checkpoints along the route.
