About The Hardwolds 80
The Hardwolds 80 is an 80-mile ultramarathon following the Wolds Way National Trail from Hessle to Filey across East Riding of Yorkshire. Starting at Hessle Rugby Club and finishing at Filey Sea Cadets on 21-22 November 2026, the route traces approximately 2400 metres of ascent through chalk landscapes, dry valleys, market towns and ancient settlements including Brantingham, Londesborough, Thixendale and the deserted medieval village of Wharram Percy.
Eight manned checkpoints spaced along the trail provide water, refreshments and food including flapjacks, fruit and nuts, with some offering hot drinks and hot meals. Runners must carry mandatory safety kit: waterproof clothing with taped seams, a survival bag, headtorch with spare batteries and a paper map. GPS trackers are provided at registration for safety monitoring. Participants may run supported or unsupported, with solo runners able to drop two bags at the 33-mile and 67-mile marks.
